The Scene
Cheerfully bright colors accent a smattering of tables, and bar seats run the length of the room. Though noise from the kitchen echoes off the wood floors, the good-natured cooks make it a pleasure to be part of the bustle. Avoid the lunchtime rush–between strollers and neighborhood professionals stopping by for a bite, finding a seat can be trying.
The Food
The low-priced menu features fish prepared in a variety of appealing low-cost guises. From spicy, barbecue-glazed, grilled mahi mahi to crispy, coconut-sweetened, chili-spiced shrimp, the menu roams the culinary map of Pacific influences. Don’t try to resist the tuna’s lure, whether in a tart soy-sesame poke over a heaping bowl of moist organic rice or seared, sliced and fanned over salad spiked with Asian vegetables and soy-wasabi vinaigrette. Don’t miss the sweet-potato fries–salty, sweet and just the right bit of heat from the Thai chili or jalapeno tartar sauce.
