Ulises Mejia, Chef, Campbell

Ulises Mejia

Ulises Mejia was born in Hidalgo, Mexico and came to the United States in May 1996 while studying accounting. His first restaurant job as a line cook at Boston Market sparked his desire to pursue a career in the culinary field. Soon after, he joined an opening team with Applebee’s and quickly worked his way up the ranks. He was promoted to company trainer and helped open two more restaurants in the East Bay. He was then offered the opportunity to work with his former General Manager in opening new Baja Fresh restaurants in Northern California, Chicago, and Las Vegas.

Ulises worked for Baja Fresh for over ten years in various positions including assistant line manager, line manager, food supervisor and regional trainer. At Baja Fresh he worked alongside Tom Hanson, the current CCO of Pacific Catch. In October 2008, Tom offered him the opportunity to work as a sous chef at the Pacific Catch locations on 9th Avenue in San Francisco and in Corte Madera. Ulises was then promoted to executive sous chef at our Chestnut Street location. In September 2011, Ulises helped open the fourth Pacific Catch location in Campbell. In early 2014, Ulises joined the opening team for Pacific Catch’s Mountain View location.

Ulises resides in San Leandro, California, and enjoys salsa dancing, reading and drawing.
